Naomi Derner
Naomi is the grandchild of four Holocaust survivors: Sara Klein Papka, Joseph Papka, Irene Klein Berner, and Solomon Berner. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York before moving to the West Coast for graduate school. She has been active in the 3G community for years before forming a Pacific Northwest chapter in 2023. Naomi has participated in the WEDU speaker program and has told her family history in multiple forums, including schools and genealogical groups. She is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation and Congregation Beth Israel. She now serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education (OMJCHE). Naomi has a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from Carnegie Mellon University and Masters in Economics from University of California, Santa Barbara. She is a licensed chartered financial analyst and currently a managing director of Stout.
Dan Sharp
Dan Sharp is the grandchild of two Holocaust survivors, Max and Dora Kramer (an Auschwitz survivor). Dan grew up in Southern California and moved to Portland in 2015 after traveling to eastern Europe and personally exploring his own family’s past. Seeking a deeper connection to his Jewish roots and identity, Dan found a thriving Jewish community he wanted to be a part in Portland. He is a member of Congregation Beth Israel and married to Beth Israel’s artist in residence, Kim Schneiderman. He has completed WEDU speaker training and looks forward to sharing his grandmother’s story with the community and his 4G niece. Dan has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science from San Diego State University and Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco School of Law. He is an attorney with Jordan Ramis PC.
